"Ending cruelty, Giving hope"

HOPE sends heartfelt gratitude to The Peltier Foundation for a $12,500 grant which will serve to fund the spaying and neutering of approximately 100-150 feral cats in our area.  Without such intervention, these cats would produce scores of unwanted kittens to suffer miserable fates.  Thank you, Peltier Foundation, for your much-needed assistance in fulfilling our mission.

ATTENTION, ANIMAL LOVERS!

HOPE is always on the look-out for animal lovers to join our cause.  There are many ways you can help.  These include donating, assisting with our fundraisers, and volunteering at our kennel or cattery.  We are also in desperate need of foster homes for both dogs and cats.  The more support we can get, the more lives we can save.  For more information, please call 985-447-9454.

HURRICANE EVACUATION NEEDS

DEETS' FUND

Hi, there!  My name is Deets, and I'm a Lab and Great Dane mix available for adoption through HOPE.  When I was just a baby, I was dropped off by some cruel person but thankfully rescued by a kind lady.  As I matured, I went through a rapid growth spurt, which caused my back legs to become "cow-hocked."  This condition is common in large breeds and, as you can imagine, is very uncomfortable and painful.  As a result, I had to have surgery recently.

According to my HOPE people, my surgery went well, and I will complete rest for 6 full weeks.  I'm recovering well, taking everything in stride.  Everyone says it must be my wonderful personality!

If you want to contribute to my medical expenses, please send donations to HOPE for Animals, P.O. Box 1341, Thibodaux , LA 70302.  Checks should be made payable to HOPE for Animals.  Please specify on the memo line that the donation is for Deets' surgery.  Thank you for your compassion!

HOME NEEDED!

Two beautiful, sweet babies are missing the love of their owner who tragically passed away on October 4, 2009, from complications following a car accident.  Her family, who requested that donations be made to HOPE in lieu of flowers, is now having a difficult time caring for these deserving dogs.  Both pups, a male and a female, have been fixed and vaccinated and are on monthly heartworm preventive.  The family is requesting that they both go to the same home, which must have a fenced-in yard.  For more information, or if you are interested in adopting, please call Brittany at 985-665-7122 or Ben at 985-803-0471.

WOULD YOU ABANDON A CHILD?

Pets are dependent upon us to provide for them and meet their needs.  "Dropping them off" is as cruel as abandoning a child.  Please consider the inevitably horrific plight of the ones that are deserted, and make the right decision--they'll love you unconditionally for it.

BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION--HAVE YOUR PETS SPAYED OR NEUTERED!

Are you in need of help getting your dog or cat spayed or neutered?  My Heart's Desire has a great, low-cost spay/neuter program in Terrebonne Parish.  Cost is $50 per cat and $60 per dog--cats must be at least 10- to 12-weeks-old or weigh 3 pounds.  Minimum weight for dogs is 3 pounds.  Volunteers transport your pets to and from Southern Animal Foundation in New Orleans every other month.  (Limit is 20 dogs and 20 cats per trip, and spaces fill quickly.)  If you are interested in this program, please email myheartsdesireministry@hotmail.com, or call Leslie at 985-852-4554 to request an application and information sheet.

LOW-COST VACCINATIONS AT YOUR LOCAL PETCO!

ATTENTION CARTRIDGE COLLECTORS!

We need your help!  HOPE for Animals is using ecyclegroup.com to recycle printer cartridges.  Here you can find a list of toner cartridges we can use to help fund our organization.  Also, any cartridge that reads "replacement" or "compatible" has already been refilled, and we cannot use these.  Please note that we can also use old cell phones.  Please call Vicki at 985-447-3821 if you have any questions.  Thank you for your continuing support of this program.

NOTICE!

The Louisiana SPCA's low-cost spay/neuter services is now available to all individuals, families, rescue organizations, and other humane welfare groups, to step up efforts to end pet overpopulation throughout the region.  There is no limit per household nor geographic restriction.  For pricing information, please visit the LASPCA's website, and to set up appointments for your pets today, please call 504-368-5191, ext. 141.  Let's make a difference for homeless pets in our area!
